Home on Aberdeen Street damaged by fire Sunday

A home in the 18300 block of Aberdeen Street was damaged in a fire Sunday night, according to Homewood Fire Chief Bob Grabowski.

One person was home when the fire broke out, but no one was injured in the incident, he said.

The first alarm came in at 7:35 p.m. The fire took about 15 minutes to extinguish and crews left the scene about 9 p.m.

The fire rekindled, however, and crews returned at 2:45 a.m. No one was home at the time.

Damage to the structure was extensive, Grabowski said.

The cause of the original blaze remains under investigation, he said. The second fire was caused by hidden fire that emerged after the scene was first reviewed by firefighters.

Firefighters remained on scene until about 5 a.m.
