H-F board approves $1.4 million in updates

The District 233 school board accepted four bids at its Feb. 19 meeting, for a total of $1.43 million for work on the North and South Buildings this summer.
 
Amber Mechanical of Alsip was awarded a $508,000 contract for updates to the mechanical system on the North Building gym. The space is lacking air circulation. This work includes installing air conditioning.
 
CMM Group of Lansing was awarded a contract for $316,810 for work in the North Building installing weather tight temporary enclosures at the existing window openings and replacing the windows that have been leaking in storms. In addition, the company will remove existing doors, side lites and transoms replacing them with new aluminum framed doors and door hardware, and associated side lite and transoms, according to Ed Wright of DLA Architects.
 
Happ Builders of Waukegan was awarded a contract for $251,700 for elevator work in the North Building.  According to Wright, the work includes a new elevator and moving the elevator mechanical room by code. 
 
Seal Tight Exteriors of Steger was awarded a contract for $366,000 for roof replacement at the South Building cafeteria.
