Dallacqua will have been principal at Western Avenue for two years, having replaced former principal Chad Prosen in 2017. She will be taking on the role of executive director for curriculum, data and accountability with the East Aurora district, according to the release.

District 161 is set to begin interviewing candidates for a replacement on April 10.

Community members who are interested in taking part of the selection process should email Cathy Perino at [email protected] by March 29.

Dallacqua plans to work with District 161 administration to help ensure a smooth transition of leadership, according to the release.

Superintendent Dana Smith stated in the release that the district and school board are looking for a candidate with “integrity, excellence and an ethic of care for our children and staff.”

“We will maintain our rigorous expectations and limitless support for our children so that they have a wealth of academic and social opportunities in which to flourish,” he stated.

Smith also stated in the release that he is grateful for the work Dallacqua has done for the district.

“While it is sad to see her leave, I wish her the best and she will certainly be missed by us all,” he stated.
