Food service workers at Homewood-Flossmoor High School ratified a new contract with their employer, Chartwells, in March.
According to Nick Desideri of Service Employee International Union Local 1, the 25 union members working at H-F overwhelming approved the contract.
He did not provide specific dollar amounts, but did say the three-year union contract guarantees a wage increase, health care protections and better benefits.
Employees spoke before the District 233 school board in February asking for support in their drive for a salary increase. However, the school board told the workers the board negotiates a general contract with Chartwells. It does not negotiate worker salaries.
The contract for food service expires in July and the H-F board is now accepting bids from interested parties.
The board is also accepting bids for custodial services and is considering an extension of its Kickert Bus contract.
