Community Band looking for musicians

After a hiatus, the Community Band is back this summer with three twilight concerts scheduled for 7 p.m. June 27, July 11 and July 25 at the Irwin Park Bandshell on Ridge Road in Homewood.

The band is under the direction of Matt Johnson, band director at James Hart School. He’s put out a call for musicians interested in performing.

High school musicians must have completed at least their freshman year and be registered to continue in their band program in the fall. Johnson said the Community Band is a great way to keep playing an instrument during the summer.

Adults are also encouraged to join. The band is one way to share camaraderie with others and enjoy making music as part of a large ensemble.

Rehearsals will be from 7 to 9 p.m. at James Hart School on June 26, July 10 and July 24.

For additional information, or to volunteer for the band, contact Johnson at [email protected] at 708-799-5544, ext, 2381.
