The tables will be spread at Irwin Park on Sunday, June 23, as neighbors come together for a Seat at the Table celebration. Between 6 and 9 p.m., enjoy a dinner, entertainment and special ways to celebrate the big event.

“Picnic tables with white linens and centerpieces will be placed end-to-end throughout the park creating one long Homewood-Flossmoor community dining table,” said Debbie Kopas, the parks’ executive director.

“In celebration of our great community, we hope that you will sit down with a stranger and leave with a friend,” she said.

Bring your picnic dinner, or order carry-out meals from one of seven Homewood and Flossmoor restaurants — The Bistro on Sterling, the Cottage on Dixie, Redbird Café, Flossmoor Station, Cilantro, Dunning’s Market and Wiley’s.

These restaurants will also provide complimentary desserts for picnickers.

This picnic dinner is one in an ongoing series of events this year that the Homewood-Flossmoor Park District is hosting to mark its 50th anniversary.
