A Flossmoor resident was assaulted and robbed during an attempted carjacking at his home on Thursday, police said.

The incident was reported at about 5:30 p.m. on May 30 in the 1400 block of Kinross Street, Flossmoor police said in an email alert to the community.

According to police, the resident arrived home to find a suspicious vehicle and a male subject attempting to enter a locked vehicle parked in his driveway. The victim confronted the individual, at which point a second male suspect emerged and entered the victim’s vehicle.

The victim re-entered his own vehicle with the offender still inside. A struggle ensued and the victim was physically assaulted by a third male suspect before the suspects fled the scene in their own vehicle, traveling east on Lismore Street.

The victim’s iPhone was stolen, police said.

The three male suspects were tracked and later spotted in Harvey, but fled from police in that community, who confirmed that the suspects’ vehicle, a white Lexus SUV (with a license plate BE63814), was reported stolen in Chicago.

Anyone with information on the three suspects or the stolen vehicle is asked to contact Flossmoor Police Department at 708-957-4500.

In the email, police reminded residents to call police if they are ever victim of or witness to criminal or suspicious activity.

“Do not try to intervene or confront the suspect,” police said.
