State Rep. Jones to hold mental health workshop to raise awareness of symptoms, treatments for Alzheimer’s disease

In an ongoing effort to support mental health care in Illinois, Rep. Thaddeus Jones, D-Calumet City, is holding an Alzheimer’s workshop with mental health experts from the South Holland Memory Care Community.

The event is on Monday, Dec. 9, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Lynwood/Glenwood Public Library at 19901 Stoney Island Ave. in Lynwood.

“I’m committed to ensuring our seniors facing mental health issues get the support they need,” Jones said. “This workshop is just one of many steps I’m taking to improve the lives of people facing the challenges of Alzheimer’s disease. People should not be going through this problem without well-informed care, and hearing from experts like those at the Arden Courts of South Holland Memory Care Community will help ensure that care is available.”

Jones’ workshop will focus on identifying and addressing the symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease, and caring for loved ones who have it. However, professionals from the Arden Courts of South Holland Memory Care Community will also be on hand to give general mental health advice.

The event is free and open to anyone interested in learning about these issues.
