Adopted by Judy Ann Johnson of Flossmoor
Johnson was looking for a pet that could bond with her father and keep him company and she found the perfect new pal in a 6-year-old terrier mix. Her father named him Chance. “He had mentioned that he’d like to have a dog and so my brother and I went and picked him out,” said Johnson.
“When he’s sleeping, he’s ‘Chance the Napper,’ when he’s drinking, he’s ‘Chance the Lapper’ and when he’s barking, he’s ‘Chance the Yapper,’” said Johnson. “We picked him because he was the happiest dog—14 pounds of pure joy. We fell in love with him immediately.”
Johnson has adopted dogs in the past.
“I am convinced that when you rescue a dog, they know it and are so devoted,” she said.
One of the painted dogs in the Dogs on Parade public art project two years ago was sponsored by her dental office and neighboring eye doctor’s office and placed in front of her practice.
