Walkathon Oct. 19 supports H-F scholarships in memory of 2015 graduate

A special walkathon is planned for Saturday, Oct. 19, that will keep the memory of a Homewood-Flossmoor High School graduate alive as it benefits current students in their college endeavors.
Alisia Dieudonne
  The late Alisia Dieudonne.

The Alisia Dieudonne Foundation is sponsoring the walk at Bicentennial Park, 3401 203rd Street in Olympia Fields. Kickoff begins at 9 a.m., and supporters will walk the one mile trail at the park.  The event will go until 2 p.m. and friends and supporters are welcome any time between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Ms. Dieudonne was a victim of gun violence. After graduating from H-F in 2015, she attended North Carolina A&T State University majoring in computer science. She was an innocent bystander shot while attending a party off campus on Oct. 2, 2016.
While at H-F, Ms. Dieudonne was in Pom-Pons, Kiwanis Key Club and on the cross country and track teams.

The Alisia Dieudonne Foundation, Inc., a charitable nonprofit corporation, awarded 10 scholarships to H-F students from the 2018 and 2019 classes: As-Sita Bamba, Anthony Dowd, Asha Dowell, Kai Garris, Kellyn Gerenstein, Sydney Hampton, Hannah Monteilh, Avianna Turner, Aque Warner and Autumn Williams.
This fundraiser will help continue the foundation’s efforts to support 2020 H-F graduates.
Jim Hill, an organizer for the walkathon, said donations are being accepted. Sponsorships are available at the $1,000, $500 and $250 level, although donations of any amount are appreciated and can be sent to the Alisia Dieudonne Foundation at 18116 Loomis Ave., Homewood, Ill. 60430, or placed through the foundation’s website at www.andfoundation.org.
