If at the end of the school day your child wants some play time, the Homewood-Flossmoor Park District’s “After School Club” could be the solution.
This program of outdoor activities for children 6 to 12 years old meets from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Fridays at the Irwin Community Center, 18120 Highland Ave. in Homewood.
Staff will involve children in playing sports, games and social activities in a safe environment and away from computer screens. While practicing social distancing, the program will give children time for social interaction with others.
Stephanie Simpson, superintendent of recreation, said hand washing and sanitizing will be enforced and masks are required while entering a park district facility, or when a 6-foot distance can’t be maintained.
Children must be registered at least three days in advance of attending the After School Club. Drop-ins are not allowed under CDC guidelines, Simpson said.
The daily fee is $10 for park district residents and $13 for non-residents. Registrations are being accepted by park district staff at 708-957-0300.
