SOUTH SUBURBS FOR GREENSPACE OVER CONCRETE – Silent auction on Saturday from 6:30 to 9 p.m. to support the organization’s environmental advocacy efforts.

GYPSY FIX GRAND OPENING – Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., the boutique and 11 associated artisan shops celebrate the opening of the retail center at 1056 Sterling Ave. in Flossmoor.

KITE SHOWCASE. H-F Park District will host a kite event at Apollo Park in Homewood Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Kite kits will be on sale if for anyone who wants to make and fly their own. Masks are required when you can not socially distance yourself from other families. The event is wind and weather-dependent.

VIRTUAL ART GALLERY SHOW – Homewood Arts Council unveiled its third virtual gallery exhibition. The show runs online from April 8 through June 3 and features 10 artists from the Chicagoland areaMost works are available for purchase and can be viewed at www.homewoodartscouncil.com/virtual-gallery

BARRELS OF HOPE ARE BACK – The Flossmoor Art Commission is accepting applications for its Barrels of Hope project. Artists selected to participate will be notified at the end of April. From the village: “The Barrels of Hope project engages local art enthusiasts to paint whiskey barrels, donated by Flossmoor Station, with messages of hope and inspiration. Painted barrels will be displayed in Flossmoor from July to September and a live online auction will take place at the end. Visit www.artflossmoor.com or www.flossmoor.org to submit an application.
