Robert L. Beach, former Homewood resident, passed away Sunday, February 14, suddenly and unexpectedly. Born April 17, 1957, Bob was the loving son of the late William & the late Marguerite Beach; father of Kara (David) Wall; grandfather of Evelyn Wall; brother of William (Nancy), Brian (Jess), and Barbara Beach; uncle of Katy, Christopher, and Hannah Beach and Adam Boyette; great uncle of Mikey Boyette; and beloved nephew and cousin to a tight-knit extended family.

A proud alumnus of Homewood-Flossmoor and the University of Illinois, Bob was a world-class friend to all. Through good times and bad (World Series for the Sox, Illini losing the Redbox Bowl), he was always there with a joke, hug, meal, or directions more detailed than any GPS. Every Super Bowl, every season of Illini football, and every birthday, wedding, and special event was anchored by gatherings with family and friends whose bonds have only deepened since HF and U of I 45+ years ago - a testament to the devotion and dedication he had for all he loved.

Bob’s greatest loves were Kara and Evelyn. Co-parenting with his former wife, Pauline, he spoke with joyous pride about Kara being a confident and intelligent woman. After the birth of Evie, whom he called “The Most Beautiful Baby in the World,” he had no greater delight than cuddling up with her and reading from her personal library, which grew every time he visited.

A giver until his final day, Bob generously gave his organs to help as many as he could. He also supported many causes and, in lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association, or the University of Illinois General Scholarship Fund.

A large ceremony will occur later this year when friends and family can gather, reminisce, and celebrate in true Bob fashion.

Out of all of his titles – son, brother, father, friend – the one he cherished most was Beeyah, the name Evie gave him. Beeyah will be deeply missed, deeply loved, and never forgotten.
