Struggling Simeon sneaks by H-F

The Homewood-Flossmoor Vikings lost another close game Friday, falling to Simeon 57-54. The Vikings have a record of 5-3 but all three of those losses have been within a deficit of five points. 

Flossmoor Plan Commission OKs pickup truck parking

The Flossmoor Plan Commission gave its approval Thursday for changing a longstanding ordinance that bans Flossmoor residents from parking pickup trucks in their driveways. 

Commissioners voted 4 to 1 to recommend that the Flossmoor Village Board adopt an amendment outlining new regulations that permit pickup-truck parking with some restrictions. 

New director starts at Flossmoor Public Library

Flossmoor Public Library’s new director Jamie Paicely said she is excited to be “immersed in the heart of the village” thanks to her new job.
Paicely joins the Flossmoor library after serving as director of the Steger-South Chicago Heights Library for four years. She started as a reference librarian for the Chicago Heights Library. 

Brooks appointed circuit court judge

Lloyd James BrooksLloyd James Brooks of Homewood has been appointed a Cook County Circuit Court judge.
He will serve from Dec. 20, 2018, through Dec. 7, 2020.

Homewood girl collects 300 pairs of pajamas for Lurie patients

Ten-year-old Dannen Rose helped collect more than 300 pairs of pajamas to donate to patients at Lurie Children's Hospital. The Homewood girl got help from her mom, Danielle Bowens, as well as some neighbors who rallied around to help the cause.
