Homewood trustees approve 2015-2016 budget, signal impending fee hike

Homewood trustees approved the 2015-2016 budget for the village Tuesday and directed staff to prepare ordinances to increase business, tobacco and liquor license fees. While the village avoided a serious hit from state budget cuts this year, officials say there's uncertainty about what the state might do next as it tries to dig its way out of a huge financial deficit.​

Linda Solotaire Sextet concert to feature the music of Johnny Mercer at Ravisloe

"Moon River," "Charade," "Accentuate the Positive," "That Old Black Magic" and "I Remember You." Those songs and more will be heard at the next event in the TrueMuse concert series at Ravisloe Country Club as the Linda Solotaire Sextet performs "Dreams of You, the Sun, the Moon and Johnny Mercer" at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 16.

Juveniles reported fighting at Flossmoor library

At least five juveniles were involved in a fight at the Flossmoor Public Library last Wednesday, April 8. Police officers were told that fighting took place both inside the library and in its parking lot, Deputy Police Chief Tod Kamleiter said Tuesday.

Officers were called to the library at 5:50 p.m. following a report to police that a fight was in progress, Kamleiter said. They arrived a short time later and were told that the juvenile suspects were running west from the library.

Volunteers needed May 2 to help start the H-F organic garden

Bring your garden gloves and shovels to Homewood-Flossmoor High School between 9 a.m. and noon on May 2 and join three H-F students as they begin the community organic garden.

Homewood trustees will hold budget hearing Tuesday

Homewood residents will have a chance to comment on the village's proposed $18.7 million budget for 2015-2016 during a public hearing at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 14.

The hearing will precede the Board of Trustees regular meeting at Village Hall, 2020 Chestnut Road.
