The Homewood Farmers Market held its last summer session Saturday, and probably the last session in its current location, but organizers are already looking forward to new features and a new home on the horizon.

Homewood Fire Department's open house attracts bigger crowd for a day of learning and fun Saturday. Kids gleefully climbed into fire trucks, climbed out of a window to escape a simulated fire and watched two demonstrations.

The Rail Committee’s Hobo Night a hit with children and adults

The Railroad Park in Homewood was packed with families enjoying the annual Hobo Night celebration this past Saturday, Oct. 10. The event featured music, a toasty fire, s'mores and stories from the days when hobos rode the rails.

District 153 asks residents and parents for input on schools, programs, funding

External forces have put Homewood District 153 finances in the red, but a 2011 $7.5 million referendum has helped the district cover costs for its excellent academic programs, according to Steve Anderson, chair of the school board’s Finance Committee.

Now that money is running low, and the school board and administrators are trying to determine next steps.
