Vehicle theft, rash of car burglaries reported in Flossmoor

In an email alert to residents, Flossmoor police reported May 19 that property was stolen from vehicles parked on the village’s northeast side. The thefts were discovered early on Tuesday. Police said there was no sign of forced entry into the vehicles and it appears they may have been left unlocked. 

H-F students polish their talents through speech competitions

Speaking is a natural; it’s something each of us does every day. But to speak before judges, to present a speech before an audience, to make it stand out from your peers — that’s what speech competition is all about and the students at Homewood-Flossmoor High School have gotten very good at it. Portillo's progress

The walls are up at the new Portillo's restaurant on the southwest corner of Halsted and 17th streets in Homewood. 

The much-anticipated addition to the village is set to open around Labor Day. 

Old cell phone donations can help someone in need

South Suburban Family Shelter in Homewood is looking for individual phone donations or organizations willing to run an old phone collection drive. Phones will be sent to a recycler and the money will help fund South Suburban Family Shelter’s many programs for families affected by domestic violence.
