Third year of Flossmoor water main project under way

Rainy weather this week didn’t stop crews from working on Flossmoor’s $7.8 million water main replacement project. Following another June downpour on Wednesday, workers from Brandt Builders installed an eight-inch PVC pipe along Collett Lane. 

Thursday’s Starry Nights concert canceled by inclement weather

The season’s first Starry Nights concert, presented by the Homewood-Flossmoor Park District, is the latest victim of June’s seemingly non-stop rains.

The park district announced Wednesday that Thursday’s free concert at the Irwin Center has been canceled due to the condition of the Irwin Center lawn. The show, featuring the classic rock band Voyage, has been re-scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 6.

District 153 extends contract with Kickert

Kickert’s yellow school buses will again transport children in Homewood again this coming school year. The District 153 school board agreed on Monday to extend its contract with Kickert School Bus Line of Lynwood for an additional two years.

Flossmoor village officials Monday honored Sister Norlee McDonnell, a key member of the community for more than 40 years.
