H-F’s balanced budgets lead to top financial rating

It’s not easy meeting expenses when revenue is limited, but Homewood-Flossmoor High School District 233, serving 2,800 students, has managed to present balanced budgets the past 12 years.

Ken Parchem, H-F business manager, is proud of that accomplishment and the positive impact it has had on the district’s reputation within financial markets.

Homewood to host public hearing on Metra budget | Proposed budget includes fare hikes, modernization plan

Homewood will host one of four public hearings scheduled Wednesday, Nov. 5, on Metra's proposed 2015 budget. Four more hearings are scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 6.

The hearing will be in the board room at Village Hall, 2020 Chestnut Road, from 4 to 7 p.m.

Taxpayer support carries District 153 through economic hard times

Administrators in District 153 say the $7.5 million bond issue passed in 2011 has made all the difference to the district’s bottom line. Without that tax referendum money, the district would not be able to meet the community’s high expectations for its schools.
