Victim uninjured in armed robbery May 16

An armed robbery occurred just before midnight Saturday, May 16, in the parking lot of a restaurant in the 18800 block of Dixie Highway, according to Homewood police.

The robber approached as the victim opened a car door, police said.  

"The male offender was wearing dark clothing and displayed a dark colored handgun," said Homewood Deputy Police Chief Denise McGrath. "The offender ran off with the victim’s bag.  The victim was not physically injured."

H-F District 233 board renews major service contracts

Satisfactory work led the Homewood-Flossmoor Board of Education to renew several contracts for the coming school year, including food service, custodian service and athletic training.

Hazel Crest man charged after stolen vehicle recovered

A Hazel Crest man was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle after a Homewood police officer observed the vehicle parked near a store on the east side of the village.

Anthony Fields Jr., 18, of the 17500 block of Oakwood, was arrested after the vehicle was spotted shortly after 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, according to the police report.

The vehicle was reported stolen from Hazel Crest on May 19.
