Volunteers, public safety staff make preserve safer

Beers and ales, ciders and mead will be plentiful when Flossmoor’s Brewfest returns on Saturday, Oct. 12.

Participants will be able to sample tasty products from more than two dozen brewing companies from around the Chicago area, and the rest of the nation.

Brewfest will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. in downtown Flossmoor. Fest-goers can get a $6 discount by purchasing tickets at Eventbrite through Friday. On Saturday, tickets will be $35, and that price includes a three ounce tasting glass and 20 brew samples.

Flossmoor Brewfest swag also will be on sale, so it’s a good opportunity to get hold of zip-up hoodies, t-shirts and pom pon  beanies.

Featured food vendors at Brewfest are Wiley’s Grill, Flossmoor Station Restaurant and Brewery, Dunning’s Market and the Bistro on Sterling.

Brewfest will also include a mechanical bull that is sure to test the mettle of fest-goers. The bull will be located in a western-themed inflatable corral. The mechanical bull is sponsored by the Conservatory Vintage & Vinyl, Flossmoor Station, H-F Homes, Dunning’s Market, the Bistro on Sterling and Doyle Designed.

Featured breweries this year are 2 Towns Ciderhouse, from the Pacific Northwest; Half Acre Brewery, from Chicago; Midwest Meadwerks, from Chicago; and Illuminated Brew Works, from Chicago.

Other participating breweries are:
Brickstone Brewery, Maplewood Brewery & Distillery, Cahoots Brewery, Virtue Cider, Flossmoor Station Restaurant & Brewery, Lake Zurich Brewing Company, Urban Renewal Brewery, Miskatonic Brewing Company, War Pigs Brewing USA.

Also, 21st Amendment Brewery, Whiner Beer Company, Stone Brewing, Oskar Blues Brewery, Two Brothers Artisan Brewing, Solemn Oath Brewery, Original Sin Cider and
