Lately, we have all witnessed suffering and observed events that perhaps enraged our senses and shook our spirits to the core. If the craziness of the world lights a fire under you to make a change, one productive way to channel your energy is by volunteering.

I’ve been doing something that makes reporters antsy: I’ve been sitting on a story.

A few weeks ago, I interviewed the Homewood man who was attacked and carjacked outside his house on Oct. 16. He graciously welcomed me into his home for an interview just a week later. Sitting on the couch with his dog, he described in detail what happened to him.

A great community deserves a great newspaper. The HF Chronicle was created in June 2014 as an online publication. In December 2015 we began monthly print publication, too. Our mission is to chronicle the life of our community — news by, for, and about the people of Homewood and Flossmoor, Illinois.
