Two redevelopment measures, two liquor licenses on Homewood trustees' agenda Tuesday

Homewood trustees will consider two measures Tuesday that would contribute to downtown redevelopment projects.

The first is a measure that would change the arrangement to help Third Coast Developers acquire a building on Ridge Road that is part of a planned develop of a residential/retail center.

Community invited to learn about H-F Racquet & Fitness Club at Nov. 12 open house

On Saturday, Nov. 12, the community will have an opportunity to walk through the H-F Racquet & Fitness Club facilities and learn about its programs when the Homewood-Flossmoor Park District hosts an open house from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the facility, 2920 W. 183rd St. in Homewood.

New community holiday tree will make its debut Dec. 2 at Holiday Lights

When the 60-foot Colorado spruce in Homewood's Irwin Park was blown over in March, the community lost the tree that crowds gathered around for years during winter festivals. It was soon replaced by a 25-foot spruce that will make its debut as the community's new holiday tree on Dec. 2 at the Holiday Lights festival.

Defendant in downtown Flossmoor shooting faces five felony counts

Following a Cook County grand jury indictment, an Indiana man is now facing five felony counts in the aftermath of a shooting in downtown Flossmoor this summer.

Bryan Oedzes is now charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm, three counts of a hate crime and unlawful use of a weapon, the indictment states.

Village reaffirms incentives for Lassen's project with amended agreement

Plans for improvements to Lassen’s Sports Bar and Grill have been scaled back, but Homewood trustees approved an amended agreement Tuesday, Oct. 25, reaffirming a $203,500 investment in the project.

Renovation plans for the popular eating and drinking establishment are still on the drawing board, but business owner Chris Rieckerman of Tack & Jibe Inc. will have until June 1 to finish the work, according to the amended agreement.

Flossmoor initiates program to save time during emergency calls

Saving your own life has never been easier. Flossmoor firefighters say their free File of Life program can save valuable minutes by providing first responders – usually paramedics or police – with a mini-medical history when they make emergency calls to homes in the village.
