H-F symphonic and jazz bands raise money for trip to Greece

The Homewood-Flosmoor High School Fine and Performing Arts Parents Club held a successful auction Jan. 21 at the high school to raise money for the symphonic and jazz bands' trip to Greece over spring break.

Band students took turns at OPA! Palooza! entertaining while guests enjoyed delicious Greek food samples and bid on prizes through a silent auction and raffles, in addition to a “split the pot” cash prize.

The 68 student musicians, under the direction of teacher Sarah Whitlock, will join a long list of H-F students who have traveled to more than 80 cities in 28 countries on five continents since the first H-F tour in 1970.
