Remember August 2018

In our cover feature, Marilyn Thomas provided an explanation of how Coyote Run Superintendent Dave Ward has incorporated native prairie plant species in the H-F Park District's golf course.

Top news stories included coverage of the summer's biggest event in Homewood, the WGN Block Party, which took over the downtown area July 13 with music, a parade and a chance for the station's metro audience to get a taste of Homewood's charm.

Carole Sharwarko covered the sudden closing of one of Flossmoor's most popular businesses, Bakewell Bakery. Eric Crump wrote about Homewood's enforcement of village sticker and overnight parking ban exemption policies, which affected a number of residents over the summer.

In his column, Tom Houlihan weighed in on Flossmoor's pickup truck parking ban, concluding that the policy had outlived its purpose.
