Great day for a hot dog!

The Homewood-Flossmoor Park District cooked more than 850 hot dogs for its 12th National Hot Dog Day picnic Tuesday, July 23, in Irwin Park in Homewood.

Guests started lining up at 11 a.m. for the specialty treats – hot dogs, chips and drinks – provided by Walt’s Food Centers, Dutch Farms, Pepsi and Fox Vending. More tan 700 guests paid 75-cents for their hot dog lunch. The crew also cooked another 150 hot dogs for kids in the H-F Parks summer day camp program.

The beautiful blue skies and pleasant temperatures made for a great day in the park.

Throughout the two-hour program, music was provided by DJ Greg, and kids got a chance to play games organized by park district staff.
