Volunteers put parks in good shape for summer

Park lovers fanned out across the community on Saturday for the Park Pride event, to help spruce up Homewood-Flossmoor parks in preparation for the busy summer season.

Individuals, businesses and organizations helped spread mulch, plant flowers, weed beds, pick up litter and generally get the parks ready for action.

The Homewood-Flossmoor Park District supported the effort by providing mulch, tools and direction for the volunteers.

The effort wrapped up about 11 a.m., when the park district provided a lunch at Irwin Center to thank the volunteers.
