Metra: New plan would address most Homewood train station problems

A plan to renovate and reshape the Homewood train station, unveiled at a public meeting Monday, was met with generally positive reviews from residents and village officials.

The process leading to a major renovation of Homewood's train station is moving forward.

Metra will hold an informational meeting in the Homewood village hall on Monday, July 10, at 7 p.m. to present plans for the renovation of the Homewood Metra and Amtrak stations.

Homewood man shot at Naperville train station Tuesday

A 45-year-old Amtrak conductor from Homewood was shot by a passenger at the Naperville train station Tuesday afternoon, according to a news release from Naperville police.

Police said they received the report of a gunshot victim on the train platform at 4:45 p.m. The conductor, who had been shot once in the torso, was transported to Edward Hospital in Naperville and was conscious and alert.

Metra officials promise to address station maintenance issues

Homewood's train station could be seeing some fresh paint and repairs in coming months. Metra officials pledged Friday to develop a plan for fixing a number of problems with Metra's portion of the Homewood train station after Homewood officials expressed frustration with the condition of the facility.
