PSC candidates say they will improve community outreach, student assistance

It was a spirited discussion between two candidates for the Prairie State College District 515 board of trustees at the March 27 debate hosted by the Homewood-Flossmoor League of Women Voters.

Jay Readey of Flossmoor and Camiella Williams of Chicago Heights took turns answering audience questions covering finances, student services, curriculum development, board actions and college outreach.

Flossmoor environmentalist offers to help candidates recycle campaign signs after April 4 election

This week, yard signs are a vital part of local candidates' efforts to woo voters before the April 4 election. On April 5, those signs become trash. Maybe. One local environmentalist is offering to help candidates recycle yard signs instead of piling them into trash receptacles.

PSC candidates debate is Monday

Candidates for election to the Prairie State College (PSC) board will debate at 7 p.m. Monday, March 27, in a forum conducted by the Homewood-Flossmoor and Park Forest League of Women Voters (LWV). The Homewood-Flossmoor Chronicle is a co-sponsor.
 
The session will be in the Heritage Community Bank Room 1318 at PSC, 202 S. Halsted St. in Chicago Heights.
 
Prairie State College serves students from Homewood and Flossmoor.
 

Candidates for H-F board look at range of topics

Communications, test scores and diversity were major topics of discussion at the District 233 school board candidate forum in preparation for the April 4 election.
 
Three incumbents on the Homewood-Flossmoor High School board – Richard Lites, Gerald Pauling and Andy Lindstrom – are facing challengers Steven Anderson, Eric Grant, Beth Larocca and Annette Bannon.
