District 153 students honored at ‘Pass the Baton’ music banquet

The District 153 Music Parents Association hosted the nearly 200 students in the music programs at James Hart School in Homewood at its “Pass the Baton” banquet May 2.
 
During the program, several special awards were presented.
 

Band festival gives young musicians chance to perform, get feedback

Young musicians from Homewood and Flossmoor performed and got valuable feedback and input from experts during the 2018 South Suburban Junior High School Association Band Festival April 12 hosted by James Hart School in Homewood.

James Hart School bands fall concert is Tuesday

The James Hart School Bands will present their annual Fall Concert on Tuesday, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m. at the school, 18820 Morgan Ave. in Homewood.
 
The performance will feature a varied repertoire for the sixth-grade varsity band and the seventh- and eighth-grade combined symphonic band. 
 

Marian Catholic Band part of opening ceremonies at Sox game Aug. 26

The Marian Catholic High School Marching Band, a seven-time Bands of America Grand National Champion and Class 3A State Champion for 37 consecutive years, will open the Chicago White Sox game on Saturday, Aug. 26, by performing the Star Spangled Banner from center field. 
 
It is also Star Wars Night at Guaranteed Rate Field, and the band will play the Star Wars “Imperial March” as they lead fans in a parade around the field.
