Homewood trustees' agenda includes requests for special use permit, stop sign installation

At the regular board meeting Tuesday Homewood trustees will witness four new employees take the oath of office and will consider a request for installation of a four-way stop at a residential intersection and a request for a day care center special use permit.

The board meets at 7:30 p.m. in village hall, 2020 Chestnut Road. 

Three new officers will officially join the Homewood Police Department: Nicholas Camilli, Thomas Rodeghier and Timothy Rosenberg. 

State rolls back LLC fees

The state of Illinois, reputed to being more of a taker than a giver, delivered a gift to small business owners and prospective owners just before Christmas.

On Dec. 20, Gov. Bruce Rauner signed legislation that reduces startup, annual filing and other fees for limited liability companies (LLCs), a common organizational structure among many of Illinois' 1.2 million small businesses.

Commitment to family and community won Carl Buddig and Company honors at the Family Business of the Year Awards program hosted by The Family Business Center at Loyola University Chicago’s Quinlan School of Business.
The Homewood-based company received the Dean’s Award at the 24th annual event on Nov. 16 in Chicago. It was one of six businesses selected for special recognition because of its exceptional commitment to family and family business.

Chamber Expo aims to bring residents, businesses together

Local residents and business professionals can get to know each other better at next Tuesday’s Homewood Area Chamber of Commerce Business Expo. The first-time event is taking place from 3 to 7 p.m. Oct. 24 at the Clubhouse at Dolphin Lake, 2700 183rd St. in Homewood. It is free and open to the public. The event will also include a Business After Hours session between 5 and 7 p.m.

Hearing center’s traditions blending with technology

Homewood Hearing Center has been a fixture in Homewood for more than 50 years and continues to treat patients with an experienced staff and modern techniques and tools. This fall Dr. Charles Amenta, an otolaryngologist (ENT) and Sheri Larks, a board certified audiologist, celebrate 20 years of working together in the practice. Both take the approach of providing individualized care to patients.
