Opera singers presenting program celebrating King’s legacy

To celebrate the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr., the Center for Performing Arts at Governors State University is presenting “Lift Every Voice,” a musical celebration, at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 21.
 
This program will feature soprano Kimberly Jones, tenor Cornelius Johnson and baritone Adrian Dunn with Paul Hamilton on piano.
 

Sons of Serendip perform Stevie Wonder tribute Saturday at GSU

The Center for Performing Arts at Governors State University will have you singing in your seats when its presents Sons of Serendip performing “50 Years of Wonder: A Tribute to Stevie Wonder” at 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13.
 

Christmas holiday performance of The Nutcracker Dec. 3 at GSU

Salt Creek Ballet will give two performances of “The Nutcracker,” the classic holiday ballet, at 1 and 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Performing Arts Center at Governors State University.

Soloist performers will be Gillian Murphy and Marcelo Gomes of American Ballet Theatre.  Both bring outstanding talents to their roles.

Guests are invited to take pictures with Santa at 3 p.m., and enjoy winter treats, hot chocolate and cookies, while meeting with the Nutcracker cast.

In December 2015 we began monthly print publication, too. Our mission is to chronicle the life of our community — news by, for, and about the people of Homewood and Flossmoor, Illinois.
