Chronicle provides voter guide for April 4 races

Of the 65 candidates running for local elections in Homewood-Flossmoor next month, at least 36 are professionals with advanced degrees.

Candidates for the Prairie State College Board of Trustees

Six candidates are running for three six-year terms on the Prairie State Community College District 515 Board of Trustees: Christopher J. Baikauskas, Brunetta Hill-Corley, Marc A. Wiley, Jay Readey, Andre Lewis and Camiella D. Williams. One candidate is running for a single two-year term: John N. Stanfa.

Candidates for the Homewood Library Board of Trustees

Five candidates are running for three six-year terms on the Homewood Public Library board: Adrienne River, Jacoba Ward, Percy Harris, Lorea Farley and Andrea Stilts. Harris is an incumbent. There are also two unexpired terms on the Homewood library board. Patricia Mosley Smith is the only candidate for the four-year term. There are no candidates for the two-year term.

Candidates for the Flossmoor Library Board of Trustees

There are three four-year seats at stake on the Flossmoor Public Library board. Candidates are Kimberly Mitchell, Nancy Disabato, Leslie Kimmons, Jane Harper, Dominique Bordelon-Bristol and Natasha Bergeron. Disabato, Harper and Bergeron are incumbents.
One unexpired two-year seat is also on the ballot for the Flossmoor library board. Derrick Hayes is the only candidate.

Candidates for Homewood-Flossmoor Park District Board of Commissioners

Two six-year seats are at stake on the Homewood-Flossmoor Park District board. Candidates are Brent Bachus, Terrence F. Wright, Brit G. Volini, Dallas Collins and Dr. Louis C. Rutland. Bachus and Collins are incumbents. Two candidates are running for an unexpired two-year term on the park board. They are Christina Farley Jackson and Alesia M. Crockett.

Candidates for the Homewood School District 153

Candidates are Gregory V. Lawrence, Deborah Smith Havighorst and Shelly F. Marks. All are incumbents.

Candidates for the Village of Homewood Board of Trustees

Homewood Mayor Richard Hofeld and Village Clerk Marilyn Thomas are running for re-election unopposed. Four candidates are running for three trustee positions on the Homewood Village Board. They are Lawrence Burnson, Anne Colton, Barbara Dawkins and Jennifer "Jen" Sjoblom. Burnson, Colton and Dawkins are incumbents. Andre Thames is registered as a write-in candidate.

Candidates for Homewood-Flossmoor District 233 Board of Education

Seven candidates are running for three board of education seats in Homewood-Flossmoor High School District 233. Candidates are P. Andrew Lindstrom, Gerald L. Pauling II, Richard T. Lites, Steven R. Anderson, Beth A. LaRocca, Annette N. Bannon and Eric D. Grant. Lindstrom, Pauling and Lites are incumbents.

Candidates for the Village of Flossmoor Board of Trustees

Two candidates are seeking the mayor’s position in Flossmoor. They are Paul S. Braun and Jeanne “Gigi” Gummerson. Arnold R. Crater filed to compete for the position but announced on Feb. 28 that he would not be able to serve if elected and was in the process of withdrawing his candidacy. Braun is the incumbent.
