Taproom the source of delays, Vice District owner says

Vice District Brewing owner Curtis Tarver said a recent shutdown of his Homewood facility was largely due to having to comply with the village’s requests during construction.
 
A note reading “not approved for occupancy” was posted on the door of the craft brewery at 18027 Dixie Highway dated Oct. 26. Brewing operations are also not taking place at Vice District while the facility is shut down.
 

Vice District Brewing closed for code violations

Homewood Village Manager Jim Marino confirmed Tuesday, Oct. 30, that Vice District Brewing at 18027 Dixie Highway was closed for failure to correct code violations. 

Vice District Brewing grand opening event is Aug. 31

Vice District Brewing will host the grand opening on Friday, Aug. 31, at its new location at 18027-18029 Dixie Highway in Homewood. The craft brewery is selling tickets for two-hour portions of the opening for $25. Vice will donate 25 percent of the proceeds to local nonprofit organizations.

Homewood trustees to consider economic development measures, mining special use permit at Tuesday meeting

The Homewood Board of Trustees will have several economic development-related measures to consider at its regular meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. 

It will also consider granting a special use permit to allow Hanson Materials to conduct mining, blasting and extraction of aggregate in the quarry area just south of Interstate 80/294 and east of Halsted Street.

Homewood trustees approve measures to help craft brewer over hurdles

With three measures approved by Homewood trustees Tuesday, Vice District is poised to begin the buildout process, and the owners hope to have the craft brewery and taproom open early in 2017.
The board approved $100,000 in business incentive funding, a special use permit and a resolution of support for the company's application to Cook County for Class 8 property tax relief.

Rabid Brewing to receive $40,000 from Homewood to aid brewery/taproom development

Rabid Brewing will get a financial boost from the village of Homewood to help the new craft beer company finish developing its brewery and taproom on the east side of town.

At the board meeting April 12, trustees approved $40,000 in incentive funding for the project from the village's non-TIF Business Incentive Program.

Homewood will soon have its own craft brewery

Local brewer Tobias Cichon is beginning to give shape to his vision of a local craft brewery. Rabid Brewery will be located on Bretz Drive and could open in about four months, if all goes as planned.
