H-F High school board relieves principal of his duties

After eight years on the job, Ryan Pitcock was relieved of his duties as principal of Homewood-Flossmoor High School. The District 233 board held a special meeting Tuesday to discuss his employment and agreed to buy out the remaining year of his contract. He will be paid salary and benefits through June 30, 2017.

Homewood-Flossmoor High School District 233 officials announced Wednesday, June 22, that the Board of Education voted Tuesday to buy out the remaining year of Principal Ryan Pitcock's contract.

H-F Board passes balanced budget despite state aid reductions

Long-range planning helped Homewood–Flossmoor District 233 pass its 13th consecutive balanced budget, according to Ken Parchem, the district’s business manager.

State funding has dropped the past five years, but the school board — working with Parchem — has managed to reduce expenses to meet the financial challenges. At its September board meeting, the board approved a budget of $53.4 million and gave kudos to Parchem for his outstanding work.

H-F Board provides position on 2005 pension policy violation

At its meeting Tuesday, the H-F Board of Education offered a statement regarding a penalty the district had to pay for violating state pension regulations, assuring the community that adjustments have been made in compensation policy since then.

H-F District 233 board renews major service contracts

Satisfactory work led the Homewood-Flossmoor Board of Education to renew several contracts for the coming school year, including food service, custodian service and athletic training.

Richard Lites continues as H-F District 233 board president

A reconstituted Homewood-Flossmoor High School board elected Richard T. Lites its president for another term on May 4. David Mayer was elected vice president/secretary.

Parking lot paving approved as H-F school summer project

The Homewood-Flossmoor District 233 board approved the repaving of the South Building parking lot this summer. 

The job will begin June 2 and should take a month according to Business Manager Ken Parchem. The work will be done by Accu-Paving Co. of Broadview for $351,600. 

Parchem said the $100 annual fee students pay for parking at H-F is covering the expense. The work will be done on the east side of the lot. The west half of the lot was repaved in 2014.

H-F District 233 incumbents handily win re-election

The voters in Homewood-Flossmoor High School District 233 gave the incumbents their support on Tuesday.

H-F school board approves tenure for 13 teachers

The Homewood-Flossmoor High School Board granted tenure to 13 teachers starting with the 2015-16 school year.

H-F football team proved themselves as outstanding ambassadors

Homewood-Flossmoor High School board members lauded the football team Tuesday for their outstanding effort, grades and behavior, as well as their football prowess this past season.
