Variety is the spice of chili contest life in Homewood

Judges in the annual Chili Cook-Off at Homewood's Fall Fest on Saturday remarked on the variety they tasted. Martin Will, winner of Homewood's Top Chef honors, said that's a characteristic of chili standards in this area.

Fall is chili time, and that means it's time to taste the best chili area chefs can concoct. Homewood 16th annual Homewood Fall Fest will take place on Martin Avenue in downtown Homewood from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 16.

Beautification Committee offers forms for annual scarecrow contest

Homewood will have a “Scarecrow Town” set up downtown the week of Sept. 18. The Homewood Beautification Committee is asking community residents to get their designs ready for the 2017 Scarecrow Contest.

Popular scarecrow contest returns to Homewood Fall Fest

The invasion of scarecrows at the 2014 Homewood Fall Fest — prompted by the first scarecrow contest — was so popular that the village Beautification Committee and festival organizers are hosting the contest again. 

Homewood Fall Fest will inaugurate new downtown streetscape with music, food and family fun

Residents can mark the changing season at the Homewood's annual Fall Fest from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, on Martin Avenue from Hickory to Ridge Road. The 14th annual celebration features live music for all ages, the traditional Chili Cook-off to crown "Homewood's Top Chef," the second annual scarecrow decorating contest, enchanting horse-drawn wagon rides and an outdoor viewing of "Monster University."
