Enrollment in District 161 schools holds steady

Student enrollment in Flossmoor School District 161 is virtually unchanged from last year. As of Tuesday, 2,304 students are enrolled in the district’s five schools. Last year on the same date, District 161 had 2,303 students.

At a ceremony Thursday, Flossmoor District 161 community members will celebrate the completion of Parker Junior High School’s $7.5 million addition. School officials will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 6:15 p.m. Aug. 27 at Parker, 2810 School St. in Flossmoor.

All systems are go for video recordings of school board meetings by Flossmoor District 161. Monday’s committee of the whole meeting – a session at which the school board discusses items of interest, but takes no action – was recorded and will likely be posted on the District 161 website later this week.

District 161 slates Thursday forum on school discipline

Flossmoor School District 161 is hosting a town hall meeting on discipline Thursday, June 25, at the district administration center, 41 E. Elmwood Drive, Chicago Heights. The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m.
