Fall is chili time, and that means it's time to taste the best chili area chefs can concoct. Homewood 16th annual Homewood Fall Fest will take place on Martin Avenue in downtown Homewood from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 16.

Pets on Parade debuts at breezy Art & Garden Fest

Homewood-area residents celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Art & Garden Street Fair by enjoying two sunny days and warm evenings filled with food, music, art, science and greenery. Some of that art was in the form of dog and cat statues ― and one giraffe ― colorfully decorated by local businesses and organizations for Pets on Parade.

To celebrate 10th anniversary Art & Garden Street Fair, Homewood is planning a colorful extension to the two-day festival, giving it a four-day lead-in called Art Week: Changing Lives Through Giving. Music, art and science events run Monday through Saturday. See the schedule here.

Farm-to-table Redbird Cafe to open Monday in downtown Homewood

The slow food, farm-to-table movement has found its way to downtown Homewood. 

Redbird Cafe at 2057 Ridge Road will open Monday, May 1, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony slated for 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 2. 

mARTin Avenue: Color, sound and science return for 9th Art & Garden Fair

For a few hours during last year's Homewood Art & Garden Fair, a one-block stretch of Martin Avenue asphalt became a canvas on which local artists unleashed their imaginations. It will be again when Chalk of the Town returns from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 11, as part of the ninth annual festival, which will fill downtown Homewood with food, music, art and activities for families.

Proposed martini bar/speakeasy owners request liquor license, describe plans

Owners of a proposed martini bar and speakeasy in downtown Homewood have applied for a liquor license, and at Tuesday's Board of Trustees meeting, they described their plans for martini classes and a Roaring Twenties experience.

Homewood's Art & Garden Fair to feature science tinkering, public art project

Homewood's eighth annual Downtown Homewood Art & Garden Street Fair on Friday, June 12, and Saturday, June 13, will feature two unique hands-on activities, plus the usual food, music and fun for families, according to a news release from the village.
