Chronicle celebrates first full year of print production with special Holiday Guide insert

With the publication of its November issue, the Homewood-Flossmoor Chronicle marks a full year of bringing a local print newspaper to the H-F community. This issue will include a special section, a Holiday Guide including a list of holiday events. Copies will be available Thursday at local businesses and Homewood and Flossmoor libraries.

Interns broaden local news coverage, gain experience

In welcoming its first two interns this summer, the Homewood-Flossmoor Chronicle is expanding coverage and teaching local young people how to be journalists — part of its mission to serve the community.

Community gives Chronicle a hand in delivering 25,000 papers

Community residents who distribute the H-F Chronicle are about to deliver their 25,000th paper with the May edition. With more than 5,000 copies printed monthly, a team of 15 volunteers will distribute the paper to over 50 locations in Homewood and Flossmoor.

Support enables Chronicle to hire its first employee

Substantial advertising support from local business has enabled the Homewood-Flossmoor Chronicle, launched as an all-volunteer newspaper, to hire its first employee.

H-F Chronicle accepted for membership in Illinois Press Association

The Homewood-Flossmoor Chronicle has been accepted as a member of the Illinois Press Association, one of the country’s largest state newspaper organizations.

Could we ask a favor? Help spread the word!

As we mark our first anniversary we genuinely have some GREAT PLANS for the future. For now, we are just asking you to read the Chronicle and to tell your friends to get in the Chronicle habit, to never miss a day and to say, “I saw it in the Chronicle.”

The HF Chronicle by the numbers

Every publication starts from zero. The Chicago Tribune had to sell its first newspaper before it could sell its millionth. The Homewood-Flossmoor Chronicle started from zero, too, but we're encouraged by the steady increase in readers over the past year.

Are we contributing something of value? Some readers think so

We’ve been meeting you at the store, at church, at meetings and community events, and of course, through Facebook. We’ve been hearing positive things about our work over the past year and appreciate all your comments. As we approached our first year as your news source, we got these special comments from readers that we wanted to share:

What, no click bait? Why the Chronicle follows different path

Welcome to the Kardashian-free zone. You may have noticed a complete lack of celebrity news at the HF Chronicle. A total drought of juicy tidbits about Miley, Jay Z, JLaw or Bieber. So what the heck are we doing anyway?
