H-F cheerleaders win twice at 35th annual cheer competition

Homewood-Flossmoor High School has two more trophies thanks to the outstanding work of two cheerleading squads. After qualifying for the meet in December, the two H-F cheerleading teams were among more than 80 teams given five minutes to perform routines at the 35th Annual Illinois Cheerleading Coaches Association championships Jan. 5 and 6 in Springfield. 

Fine Arts Center final plans receive green light from H-F board

The Fine Arts Center proposed for Homewood-Flossmoor High School will add approximately 8,000 square feet to the South Building.
 
The project, discussed since fall 2017, is in the home stretch. Depending on contractors’ bids and schedules, work could begin in summer.

Bolingbrook's 3rd quarter helps team roll past Vikings

Homewood-Flossmoor's Vikings couldn't compete against Bolingbrook's 16-4 run in the third quarter of Friday's at-home game. Despite their best efforts, the Vikings took the 86-63 loss.

Improvements OK’d on H-F’s North Building

The District 233 School Board has approved several major improvement projects for the Homewood-Flossmoor High School North Building, including replacing the windows and the building's elevator.
 

H-F school board makes curriculum changes with upgrades and new courses

The District 233 school board made Homewood-Flossmoor High School curriculum changes by adding or giving more academic credit to 15 courses. The changes will benefit students at all levels starting in the 2019-2020 school year.
 

School, village, library candidates file for April election ballots

In the April 2 election, voters will be selecting new members to serve on school boards, the Homewood and Flossmoor Village Boards, Flossmoor and Homewood libraries, Homewood-Flossmoor Park District and Prairie State College.

66 H-F seniors named Illinois State Scholars

The Homewood-Flossmoor High School senior class has 66 students selected as 2019 Illinois State Scholars. The Illinois Student Assistance Commission selects these students based on their academic achievements. View this year's honorees.

H-F students get social media safety tips from retired detective

Retired police detective Richard Wistocki spoke to student assemblies at Homewood-Flossmoor High School on Nov. 30 and Dec. 7, discussing the potential dangers of social media, especially when encountering people looking to take advantage of them. Wistocki talked on one of the biggest dangers teens face, "sextortion," the threat to use sexual images of young people to exploit them.

White Sox recognize four high school players

The Chicago White Sox recognized four local baseball players in the Sox ACE Program at a special college signing day ceremony at Guranteed Rate Field on Nov. 14.

H-F teen arrested after bringing bullets to school

Flossmoor police arrested a Homewood-Flossmoor High School student when it was discovered he brought loose bullets into the school Monday, Nov. 12.
 
School officials notified police mid-morning that there was a suspicion that a student may have bullets. The student was identified, searched and the bullets were located, according to information provided to H-F parents.
