Marian Catholic High School has announced its quarterly honor roll. The selected students achieved academic success with grade point averages of 3.2 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
 

Marian Catholic students stage 'Anything Goes' April 12, 13, 14

Alex Bertucci and Elijah Long of Homewood and Fiona Keating of Flossmoor will be on stage when Marian Catholic High School presents the musical “Anything Goes.” Performances of this Cole Porter classic will be at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 12, and Saturday April 13, and 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 14, in the Monsignor Croarkin Auditoriun at Marian, 700 Ashland Ave. in Chicago Heights.
 

English teacher inspired Marian’s Kathleen Mesterharm to choose her career

Kathleen Mesterharm has never wanted to be anything but a teacher. Now she is one of 32 high school teachers who are finalists for the 2019 Golden Apple Award given for excellence in teaching.

Marian Catholic’s Queen of Hearts raffle starts Jan. 31

The South Suburbs will have its third Queen of Hearts 50/50 raffle when Marian Catholic High School draws its first number on Jan. 31. Tickets are $5 for six chances to win. The drawing will be at 8 p.m. on Thursdays at Carlo Lorenzetti’s Restaurant, 560 W. 14th Place, Chicago Heights.
 

White Sox recognize four high school players

The Chicago White Sox recognized four local baseball players in the Sox ACE Program at a special college signing day ceremony at Guranteed Rate Field on Nov. 14.

Scheffers top player for Trinity College

Colette Scheffers of Flossmoor had an outstanding season as a leading volleyball player for Trinity College in Hartford, Conn.
 

Marian Catholic to celebrate homecoming along with school’s 60th anniversary

Marian Catholic High School is celebrating its homecoming this week. Various events and activities will take place at the school during this celebration.

As a reflection of the school’s 60th anniversary, the theme for this year’s Homecoming celebration is “Homecoming Rewind – Dancing through the Decades.” 

Sister Mary Jo becomes internet sensation after throwing first pitch

Sister Mary Jo Sobieck, a nun of the Dominican Order of Springfield, who was bestowed the honor of throwing out a ceremonial first pitch in celebration of Marian Catholic High School’s 60th anniversary threw a strike — and went viral on social media.

Marian Catholic supporters get a chance to walk Sox field

The Chicago White Sox will host the Marian Catholic High School Marching Band for a performance before the 6:10 p.m. game Aug. 18 against the Kansas City Royals. The Marian band, a seven-time Bands of America Grand National Champion and Class 3A state champion, will march into Guaranteed Rate Field with a parade of supporters marching behind them. 

Flossmoor resident honored as tennis co-captain

Kyle Scheffers of Flossmoor won numerous honors as co-captain of the Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, during his senior year.
 
An alumnus of Marian Catholic High School, Scheffers graduated from Trinity in May with a degree in economics. He is the son of Cathy and Todd Scheffers.
