New communications manager will oversee marketing in District 161, village of Flossmoor

Flossmoor School District 161 and the Village of Flossmoor have named a communications manager who will oversee marketing efforts and public information at both governmental units.

Homewood shines in televised WGN Block Party

As the sun rose in Homewood on Friday, the WGN Block Party Extravaganza was already gearing up. Young musicians in the Melody Mart Band were tuning up. The streets were lined with offerings from local businesses and organizations. 

And the WGN staff had the cameras ready to roll at 6 a.m. to open the four-hour WGN Morning News show from its remote location in downtown Homewood.

Homewood hires hometown marketing director

Jennifer Quirke was sworn in as Homewood’s marketing director at the May 22 village board meeting. “Homewood is my adopted hometown,” Quirke said. “Homewood is where my heart is.” 

Triumph building purchase on board agenda Tuesday

Homewood officials have reached an agreement to purchase a vacant building that has for some time been featured in its plans for downtown redevelopment.

Trustees on Tuesday will have an opportunity to approve a contract on the building at 2033-2045 Ridge Road and 18042-18044 Martin Avenue, commonly referred to as the Triumph Building.

Homewood hoping for home run with marketing campaigns

Plans for a pair of marketing campaigns were unveiled at the village board meeting March 26. The village aims to attract new residents and businesses with two-pronged marketing plan featuring the work of a local artist and the products of a local business.
