H-F High School’s fall musical ‘Chicago’ set for Nov. 9 and 10

The razzle-dazzle musical “Chicago” will be performed by Homewood-Flossmoor High School theater and music students at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 9, and 10 in the Mall Auditorium.
 
This high school edition of the Broadway production is recommended for ages 13 and up.
 

School board allocates funds for fine arts wing at H-F High

The District 233 school board took its first official step for constructing a fine arts wing at Homewood-Flossmoor High School by transferring $12.5 million into the capital projects fund.
 
The vote at the Oct. 16 meeting was 7-0. The board has been examining architectural plans for a year. This was the first time the full board had an opportunity to take action on the $10 million fine arts project. 
 

American Dance Center showcase June 9-10 to highlight student achievements

The American Dan Center student showcase "For the Love" on Saturday and Sunday, June 9 and 10, will be a celebration of dedication to dance — by the dancers and the studio that helps them learn.

The event at Governors State University's Center for the Performing Arts will mark 48 years ADC has helped youngsters in the South Suburbs acquire the skills and love of dance. ADC has studios in Homewood and Orland Park.

H-F board’s finance committee holds off on first step for performing arts additions

With the price tag for major renovations and building additions at Homewood-Flossmoor High School coming in higher than expected, the school board’s finance committee held off on taking the first step on the project.
 
At its meeting Tuesday, committee members Jody Scariano, Tim Wenckus and Steve Anderson put off directing DLA Architects to begin the architectural and engineering work and agreed to meet again May 14 to review costs.
 

H-F High asks community for input on expansion plans

The District 233 school board is hoping to get feedback through Nov. 17 on its survey of proposed plans for additions to Homewood-Flossmoor High School.
 

‘Harriet the Spy’ performed Friday and Saturday in Homewood

Homewood’s 23 Miles South Theatre will present three performances of “Harriet the Spy” at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 11 and 12.
 
The cast will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Friday with a dinner/theatre package available. The play will also be performed at 3 and 7 p.m.* on Saturday. Performances are at St. Paul Community Church, 18200 Dixie Highway.
