Fighting a fire with algebra? Teens at the Homewood Science Center’s “Pump It Up!” PopUp Science program found out just how much math is involved in the work of a firefighter. 
On Saturday, Sept. 23, teens got a math lesson from Homewood Fire Chief Bob Grabowski.

Homewood Science Center plans 'Eclipsapalooza' party for Monday

The eclipse mania will continue on Monday when the Homewood Science Center opens its doors at 10:30 a.m. in preparation for the celestial event, which will begin about 11:54 a.m. in this area, and the science center has a party planned for those who want to see and learn about it.

Walk Walton fundraiser: Homewood Science Center to host fall festival at Izaak Walton Preserve

Fresh air, fun science and a chance to help the Homewood Science Center continue to grow. That's what Walk Walton, a PopUp Science fundraiser, has to offer area residents from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23. Walk Walton will be the HSC's first fall festival. The event will be an opportunity to escape into the beauty of autumn on a guided nature walk or stroll the trails on your own with a self-guided tour through Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, 1100 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Homewood welcomes autumn with annual Fall Fest array of family activities

The 15th annual Homewood Fall Fest will celebrate the change of season from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17. The event the popular Chili Cook-off, the third annual Scarecrow Contest, PopUp Science, live music, food, a pumpkin patch, a magic act, a movie for kids and more.

Pooch Parade will return, liar's contest to debut at Homewood Block Party

With schools about to start, it's time to punctuate summer with one more big festival. The Village of Homewood is hosting the 11th annual Giant Block Party from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 20, on Martin Avenue between Ridge and Hickory roads.

Homewood Science Center to host volunteer meeting July 7

Planners envisioned the Homewood Science Center (HSC) as a community project, and there are new opportunities for people to get involved. The science center at 18022 Dixie Highway in Homewood will host a meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 7, for anyone who is interested in volunteering.
