Helpful approach wins PSC Professor Joshua Green national award

One special comment, suggestion or word of encouragement from Joshua Green can make a difference for a student in a competition. Green’s efforts didn’t go unnoticed. Speech team competitors in regional and national meets selected the Prairie State College assistant professor of communications the 2018 Collie-Taylor Coach Fellowship Award winner. The award recognizes the coach who best exemplifies coaching excellence.

Bill Beverly sets sights on NASA career

Bill Beverly of Homewood has a goal — he wants to work for NASA. Beverly’s excitement about his future profession derives from his selection for the NASA Community College Aerospace Scholars Program that gave him the opportunity recently to learn from engineers and scientists at the Johnson Space Center in Houston.

Musician’s ideas brought jazz fest to PSC 30 years ago

On Feb. 15, 16 and 17, Valerie Nicholson and friends will mark 30 years of the Prairie State College Jazz Fest. The highlight of the three-day event will be the 7:30 p.m. concert with leading jazz musicians in the PSC Barnes & Noble Auditorium on the campus at 202 S. Halsted St. in Chicago Heights.

Local students named to PSC Dean’s List

Prairie State College (PSC) recognizes the academic accomplishments of students each year by awarding them a place on the Dean’s List. Several students from Homewood and Flossmoor were included in the most recent honor.

Prairie State College’s Jazz Fest is Friday

Some of the nation’s top jazz artists will perform at Prairie State College’s (PSC) 27th Annual Jazz Fest at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 20, in the Barnes & Noble College Auditorium.

In December 2015 we began monthly print publication, too. Our mission is to chronicle the life of our community — news by, for, and about the people of Homewood and Flossmoor, Illinois.
