GSU Special Olympics car and motorcycle show benefit

On Friday, Sept. 8, Governors State University will host its first Car and Motorcycle Show, sponsored by the Department of Public Safety and the GSU Library.
 
The 4 to 8 p.m. event in east lots 2 and 3 will benefit Special Olympics Illinois. Officer Lee Taylor of the GSU Department of Public Safety said, “There’s a long history of partnership between law enforcement in Illinois and Special Olympics, and we’re very excited to be bringing that partnership to GSU.”

Torch Run for Special Olympics passes through H-F towns

The Homewood and Flossmoor Police Departments joined other enforcement agencies for the Illinois Special Olympics Torch Run June 6, carrying the “Flame of Hope” that symbolizes courage and a celebration of diversity. 

Local police to participate in Cop on a Rooftop fundraiser May 19 for Special Olympics

On May 19 local police officers will take to the roof of a local doughnut shop to help raise awareness and funds for Special Olympics, a worldwide organization that helps people with intellectual disabilities participate in sporting events.
 

Cop on a Rooftop at Dunkin Donuts on Friday will raise money for Special Olympics Illinois

Sometimes to get attention, it helps to rise above the crowd. 

Homewood police officers will be rising to roof level to get attention from 6 a.m. to noon Friday at Dunkin Donuts, 17579 Halsted St., Homewood. The annual Cop on a Rooftop program is an effort to raise money for Special Olympics Illinois, according to Homewood Deputy Police Chief Denise McGrath.
