Standardized Testing

Back to paper and pencil for District 153 PARCC test takers

Student testing time for the state mandated PARCC test has been reduced from four weeks to just one week because Homewood District 153 is now able to give the test with paper and pencil.

Kathy Schaeflein, director of curriculum and instruction, said the district applied for a waiver so that the test no longer has to be administered by computer.

H-F administrators say Illinois Report Card numbers can be misleading

The statistics from a standardized test administered once a year don't provide a full picture of the successes of Homewood-Flossmoor High School students, according to information presented by Principal Jerry Lee Anderson and Assessments Department Chair David Kush.

Problems minimal in Homewood District 153’s initial days of PARCC testing

There’s a general sigh of relief in Homewood District 153 as only minor glitches have come up during the first five days of PARCC testing.

Pre-test training sessions helped familiarize students with the test concepts and necessary computer skills, the district’s bandwidth proved sufficient for the multi-computer use and a few minor issues have been solved and chalked up to experience.

PARCC testing now required in Illinois

Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers is the new standardized test being rolled out in Illinois schools to meet Common Core standards.
