Flossmoor resident named Illinois Superintendent of the Year

The work Donna Leak has done as a school administrator the past six years has won her the 2021 Illinois Superintendent of the Year honor.
The Flossmoor resident, who started her teaching career at Homewood-Flossmoor High School, has spent more than 30 years in the education field. Today Leak is the superintendent for Sauk Village District 168. 


H-F board begins talks on finding Superintendent Mansfield's replacement

The District 233 school board hopes to name a replacement for retiring Superintendent Von Mansfield by the end of this school year. He told the board during a special meeting Monday, Nov. 30, that he will step down as superintendent at the end of his contract June 30, 2022. The meeting was called to hear a presentation by BWP & Associates search firm. 

District 153’s Mitchell named ‘Superintendent of Distinction’

Dale Mitchell got a Superman cape Monday to recognize him as a "super superintendent" as part of the Homewood District 153 celebration marking his selection as the 2019 Superintendent of Distinction from the South Suburbs. His peers in the Illinois Association of School Administrators voted for Mitchell to receive the honor for his leadership, professionalism, communication and community involvement. 

H-F board member Jody Scariano says superintendent’s merit pay vote ‘about politics’

District 233 school board member Jody Scariano believes Homewood-Flossmoor High School Superintendent Von Mansfield was given an inappropriate amount of merit pay.
The $14,600 in merit pay was approved on a 6-1 vote at the Sept. 19 school board meeting. Board members Annette Bannon, Debbie Berman, John Farrell, Steve Anderson, Tim Wenckus and Beth Larocca voted to approve the merit pay.
