Toys from police shopping spree will again go to needy kids

Flossmoor police officers, during their Monday pre-holiday shopping spree, got a peek inside Santa’s workshop. Or at least the closest than any of us will ever get to it. The officers were granted access to a holiday storage area at Flossmoor’s Meijer store for the Marine Reserve’s Toys for Tots program, a holiday donation entirely funded by Meijer.

And on the 12th day before Christmas, Santa wore a blue uniform. Flossmoor police officers Monday filled their baskets with toys during a shopping spree at the village’s Meijer superstore.

Toys for Tots donations accepted

‘Tis the season for giving as the national Toys for Tots drive gets underway with a collection drop-off in Homewood.

Donations of new toys are being collected at the Edward Jones Investments Office of Matt Michalik at 18115 Dixie Highway in downtown Homewood.

From now until Tuesday, Dec. 6, unwrapped toys can be dropped off at the office between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
