Kelly addresses census importance, concerns at community briefing

U.S. Rep. Robin Kelly says the stakes are high as the 2020 national census nears, and that all south suburban residents should make sure they are counted next year. A low turnout, Kelly said at a recent forum, could reduce the number of the Illinois Congressional delegation in Washington.
 

Rep. Kelly works to bring needs of African American mothers to the forefront

Rep. Robin Kelly, D-Ill., is putting the needs of African American women in the spotlight through the work of the Congressional Caucus on Black Women and Girls.
 
Kelly, who represents Homewood and Flossmoor in Congress, founded the caucus with two other representatives. Kelly said the caucus was necessary to give voice to the 23.5 million black women and girls who should be considered a priority in policy debates.

Hiring event set for Oct. 27

U.S. Rep. Robin Kelly, D-Ill., will host a 5th Annual Hiring Event for residents of the 2nd Congressional District on Friday, Oct. 27, from 9 a.m. to noon, in the gymnasium of South Suburban College, 15800 State St., South Holland. 
 
Kelly represents Homewood and Flossmoor in Congress.
 

Congresswoman Kelly to Host Youth Job and Resource Fair

U.S. Rep. Robin Kelly, D-Ill., will host Job Readiness Boot Camp on Wednesday, March 29, and a Youth Job and Resource Expo on Saturday, April 1.
 
The Job Readiness Boot Camp on Wednesday is from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., in Room T107 of the Technical Building of Thornton Township High School, 15001 Broadway Ave. in Harvey.
 
The Youth Job and Resource Expo is for young men and women between the ages of 15 and 24.

U.S. Rep. Kelly calls Trump’s actions against immigrants un-American

U.S. Rep. Robin Kelly, D-Ill., who represents Homewood and Flossmoor in Congress, addressed news that a federal judge ordered the government not to deport immigrants stopped at airports. A number of people were detained at U.S. airports on Saturday,  including about a dozen people at O'Hare International Airport, as a result of the President Trump’s executive order barring individuals from seven Muslim-majority countries.
