Flossmoor Village Board approves $116,106 for emergency sewer work along Vollmer Road

The Village of Flossmoor paid $116,106.88 for work done over the past few months on Vollmer Road’s 24-inch sanitary sewer.

The village board voted unanimously Monday, May 17, to approve the expenses paid to Michels Corporation, which relined two segments of Flossmoor’s sanitary sewer and more under “emergency” circumstances.

Restaurants in Flossmoor may now allow dogs and cats in outdoor dining spaces, but the new ordinance did not get unanimous support from the village’s trustees.

The village board voted 5-1 on Monday, May 17, to pass an ordinance amending Flossmoor’s municipal code to pave the way for animals to be allowed on premises during business hours where food is sold, though only in outdoor spaces. Trustee Joni Bradley-Scott cast the lone dissenting vote.

Bond timing, planned fund balance use leaves Flossmoor with $3 million FY22 deficit on paper

Flossmoor’s budget for Fiscal Year 2022 is projecting what appears on paper as a total deficit of $3.08 million, but it is largely attributable to 2021 streets and storm sewer projects being funded by the proceeds of a $10 million bond sale that took place at the end of FY21.

Flossmoor Village Board supports passing Chicago, Harvey water rate increases to residents

Flossmoor residents may see their water bills go up by 7 cents per 1,000 gallons starting this month.

The Village Board voiced its support to “pass through” both a Harvey rate increase and a Chicago component increase onto residents’ water bills. Chicago’s rate is expected to increase June 1 and Harvey’s on July 1. Pending formal approval April 19, water rates would increase from $11.41 per 1,000 gallons to $11.48.
