Hearing focuses on challenges to Flossmoor candidate petitions

Flossmoor’s local election board this week will consider objections to the petitions submitted by a resident seeking a village trustee seat.
Two incumbent trustees, Perry Hoag and James Mitros, filed objections to the candidate petitions filed by David Bruni. Hoag and Mitros are running for another term in the April 2 consolidated election.

Santa parade, holiday hunt highlight Flossmoor Winterfest Dec. 8

Amid all that making lists and checking them twice, Santa is making an early holiday stop at Flossmoor’s annual Winterfest celebration on Dec. 8. The man in the red suit will be on hand for photos at Winterfest and will then lead a parade from the Flossmoor Public Library to Flossmoor Park for the village’s tree lighting ceremony.

Flossmoor plan commission to hold Dec. 20 hearing on truck parking

Flossmoor residents are another step closer to being able to move their pickup trucks from their garages to their driveways as a decades-old ban is set to go before the village’s plan commission.
The Flossmoor village board Monday unanimously voted to put the zoning ordinance amendment up for a public hearing during the Dec. 20 plan commission meeting. The board will make the final decision after receiving the commission’s recommendation.

Possible change in Flossmoor pickup truck ordinance on Monday agenda

Flossmoor village board members Monday will take the first step toward a possible repeal of the longtime prohibition of pickup truck parking on residential driveways.
Board members will consider a motion directing the Flossmoor plan commission to hold a public hearing on a proposed text amendment to the village's zoning ordinance that, if adopted, would allow pickup trucks to park in residential districts.

Flossmoor’s commitment to diversity rings loud and clear in a recently-released promotional video highlighting the community’s many faces and positive attributes.
The three-minute video features clips from events in town, such as National Night Out and Martin Luther King Day of Service, and interviews with Flossmoor residents who talk about their love for the town, its people and its “intentional inclusivity.”

Fun flowed at first Flossmoor Brew Fest

Smiling faces braced against chilly air to sip frosty beers at the first Flossmoor Brew Fest on Oct. 13 along Sterling Avenue.
The fest attracted nearly 300 attendees, with about 175 people buying their tickets in advance and 100-plus getting a same-day ticket. Flossmoor Assistant Village Manager Allison Deitch said she thinks many people came from outside the area.
